As a press photographer in London for fifteen years, I've been lucky enough to attend some huge events and photograph people of global interest, this blog is a chance to share my experiences.

On assignment for Getty Images I was part of the team covering the City Three Peaks Challenge which involved participants abseiling down three of Londons’ tallest and most recognisable buildings, The Gherkin, The Cheese-grater and The Walkie Talkie. I was lucky enough to be working at the top of the Cheese-grater to capture the tension of those before and as they begin descending these heights.
Most commonly people questioned “Why am I doing this” as the ropes were fitted to their harness rig. I found myself stifling my giggles as I captured their nerves, I wasn’t being unkind but that's how I react when I can totally relate to that nervous rush brought on by adrenaline.
Being roped in and standing in a splayed position on scaffolding for extra height to capture their departures had its own challenge, but thanks to the professionalism of Ropesmiths Cubby, Paul & Bill I felt surprisingly confident up there. What struck me most was how attentive people were whilst being instructed, people are so easily distracted in day to day situations and many aren't listening but waiting for their opportunity to talk, this was understandably a moment for focus, but people look different when they are genuinely listening, they examine your face to absorb your delivery, manner and minor inclinations with forensic scrutiny.
